Binge Eating Disorder

However, it differs from Bulimia in the fact that "its sufferers do not purge their bodies of excess food after bingeing" (www.dosomething.org). This often results in serious weight gain and obesity. People with BED often become distressed about their disorder but cannot stop because its impulsive. BED is often triggered by a stressful time in a person's life, being used as a way to cope. Half of all people that have Binge Eating Disorder have a history of depression, which plays a role in several mental illnesses.
